About the Workshop
Acquiring academic writing skills is a major challenge, especially for students in the early semesters. This workshop initiates the development of a cross-disciplinary learning game supported by generative AI. It aims to increase motivation and learning success through gamification. Participants will discuss didactic, technical, and research-related aspects to collaboratively develop a concept and explore opportunities for cooperation and further funding.
Objectives
- Develop an initial concept for a cross-disciplinary learning game for academic writing
- Design a didactic framework using existing Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Draft a technical concept that includes generative AI as a learning companion
- Plan a validation study to assess the effectiveness of the approach
- Build a network for long-term collaboration and third-party funding
Target Audience
This workshop is aimed at researchers, educators, and practitioners from the fields of:
- Educational technology
- Didactics (especially writing instruction)
- Game development
- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
Participants are warmly invited to join the Saxon teaching network "Scholarship of Teaching and Learning" after the workshop.
